Covid has really messed with the event calendar this year. Here are some upcoming events you might be interested in all going well.
Auckland Blokart Club’s Open Championships Sat 26th & Sun 27th September
Please note the new dates. The club’s open championships (Auckland Champs) are run over two consecutive days, in three classes; Cruisers, Lights and Heavies. As always, it will provide heaps of fun within a very competitive event.
As I write this, there is uncertainty when the government will move Auckland from Level 2.5, and equally, there is uncertainty in which direction the transition will go. The committee is planning for Level 2.0, however, the Covid resurgence in August demonstrates we must be flexible, and quickly adjust our program to meet any government guidelines that arise.
It has been decided to postpone the Auckland Champs by two weeks, from the 12 and 13th September to the 26th and 27th of September. This gives ABC members and visitors time to register and plan. It also gives the committee time to liaise with Ardmore Airport management about the extended runway.
Due to the Covid recommendations designed to maintain everyone’s safety, the ABC will not organise shared lunches or evening BBQs. This time around, the Auckland Champs are strictly BYO food and drink.
The entry fee has been adjusted accordingly and set at a break-even-$35 to encourage sailors to enter, and enjoy a great weekend, albeit two metres apart. Please go to the ABC website shop and register for the Auckland Champs. If the event is cancelled due to Covid 19, a refund will be given.
Manawatu Open – Sanson, 17th to 18th October 2020
The Manawatu Blokart Club is planning a 2-day race event in October, to help fill the gap left by the cancellation of the Blokart World Championships.
This is a good opportunity for ABC members to practice on the Sanson track before the World Champs, which will hopefully be rescheduled for October 2021.
Further details, including the Notice of Race and registration, can be found at http://manawatublokartclub.nz/manawatu-open-2020/.
